[OKR 2024] Increase Participation of Public Sector Organizations #4
Comments
@idunbarh do you have a link for what the current requirements are for participation? |
@idunbarh , I spoke with Taylor. He said the only requirement to participate is: |
@chadbeaudin Discussion item today is to both refine and define requirements for participation. We'll want to get whomever involved that can help establish any pre-determined governance of the user group. Id be interested on where telco entities are enabled to participate if not this group. Discussion today aroudn consultancies is a very ambiguous space and - who if not for consulting firms for the public sector would not be positioned well to participate. The last item "primary monetization" is also quite vague - take for instance companies who only write Open Source software and consult to various entities. All of that to say we should seek more feedback about requirements here and discuss further. Ambiguity will only lead to more confusion about who can and cannot participate. |
Just to add additional thoughts from a currently active perspective - with the plethora of USG / DoD based "Software Factories" Software Factory Coalition, theres already involvement in a lot of "Open Source" perspectives. Possibly targeting Software Factories that a lot of us are already involved with, i.e. Platform One, Army Software Factory, Marine Corps Software Factory, etc could be a good starting point to demonstrate USG collaboration with CNCF / Open Source community. I believe these organizations already understand the benefit of CNCF / OSS as its already an integral part of the organization. Additionally we could target specific Program of Records that are already sudo-open source. Great example of that is Tactical Assault Kit @TAK-Product-Center Refering to: |
