Several people have pointed out that the chef-automate-ha is not production ready, e.g., it currently uses small VMs to keep the cost down as a quickstart. However, it might be more useful to present the user with an option to build either a "quickstart" or a production-ready cluster. These 2 options might be as follows:

  • A Cheap-and-cheerful quickstart one. This one would continue to use the Standard_DS2_v2 for all VMs
  • A Production-ready one. This one could use the proper VM sizes pointed out in the hardware requirements.

Both @stuartpreston and @trevorghess raised concerns about the production readiness of the quickstart chef-automate-ha cluster; therefore this issue has been created and tasks added to the project board.

FYI @davymcaleer.
