Tracking issue for ongoing unit test coverage expansion:

Outcome: We'd like to expand our unit test coverage such that

  • there is greater scope of the code tested
  • the tests are reliable in CI across different os/architectures a (currently ubuntu-latest and macos-latest)
  • the tests are of high quality
  • we can refactor and clean up parts of the codebase as we go through
