Is there an interest in a course like this (see descrpition below)? Is anyone else working on this kind of materials?
All the best,
greetings from the Netherlands.
What is the topic of your lesson proposal?
Packaging and publishing with R.
We want to explain the technical sides of it, such as:
Namespaces
Unit tests
Vignettes
Documentation
with a strong focus on why this is a good idea. We'll do it from the practical, scientific and even humanistic/philosophical point of view. For instance, how packaging helps to improve:
Reliability
Openness
Reproducibility
(Re)Usability
Legibility
Do you already have a draft of your lesson?
No. We just began brainstorming about the outline. Updates will follow.
Hi @PabRod thanks so much for this lesson suggestion. It would be a very relevant topic for The Carpentries community and I would love to help you start developing it.
We have one participant in the new Lesson Development Study Groups program who is also planning to develop a lesson on exactly this topic. I do not have their GitHub information yet, but hope to very soon. At which point I will tag them here and see if you all would like to discuss collaborating on a single lesson or might prefer instead to develop separate lessons e.g. if the intended audience or the high-level objectives for your lessons are different.
Hi there. @bvreede, @mkuzak and I (@PabRod) just began designing an R packaging lesson
