The Carbon for IBM Products team will begin providing support for product teams implementing WalkMe in their products. Shawn's put together an awesome guide on getting started on WalkMe. To start, the effort is set to a 5 for this sprint, but expect some of this to roll over into other sprints.

Thanks for your interest in WalkMe! Excited to help you all learn more and get started with WalkMe.

WalkMe at IBM Overview:

  • IBM x WalkMe partnership began at an enterprise level around EO 2019 and IBM has continued to leverage/renew our partnership agreement with WalkMe (a few product teams were already using WalkMe prior to the ELA)
  • We have about 60+ teams leverage WalkMe today (Experience levels vary—we have some super builders and we also have some new WalkMe builders that are just starting this year)
  • WalkMe is a low-to-no code digital adoption platform; once implemented on a product/platform, there is minimal Dev effort required to collect data, design, build, and publish WalkMe content to IBM products/platforms
  • IBM has partnered with WalkMe Design and Front-end teams to develop a WalkMe template collection aligned with Carbon v11
    • The out-of-the-box templates are intended to help IBM product teams to build in WalkMe at speed and scale, provide a consistent, IBM-branded experience, and minimize IBM Design and Dev efforts
  • While WalkMe is well-known for its "guided tours" and/or "popups" it also has:
    • A robust rule engine that enables teams to design and control where content appears, for specific audiences, and at the right time (Think: Auto-plays, Segmentation, spacing out learning)
    • Automation capabilities (i.e. auto-click, auto-fill, redirects, etc) which can help reduce empty clicks and streamline users to areas of value in our products/platforms
    • WalkMe Insights (data analytics) which shed light on how end-users are interacting with WalkMe content and native html elements on a product/platform

Now that you have some IBM-WalkMe context, here are some helpful resources as you get started with WalkMe:

  • If you don’t already have a WalkMe account, apply for access via AccessHub
    • Note that there are two main tiers of WalkMe access:
      • Standard Design Access: allows you to take WalkMe training and build content only (This tier should be good to start with!)
      • Publisher Access: allows you to take WalkMe training, build and publish content to Test/Production environments (WalkMe training courses are required to get Publisher access)
  • Once you have an account, log into WalkMe Digital Adoption Institute (aka DAI) with your SSO to access training course (see recommended trainings below)
  • Review WalkMe Overview Deck (Currently the epic of this issue for the updated deck, will add link before the next sprint begins)
  • Enroll for WalkMe weekly office hours
  • If you have time, check out the session recordings and ppt decks from our WalkMe Foundations Enablement Series that we ran in Q4 2024.
    • This WM Foundations series was designed for new PLG teams who are starting their WalkMe journeys
    • We also experimented with a new enablement format for the first time, which was 50% theory and 50% practical training on a PLG product—Hybrid Mesh Cloud.
    • Note: You may notice some kinks we had to work through in the recordings, so feel free to fast-forward when needed

Trainings

Last but not least, I've fostered a great relationship with WalkMe over the years, so if there is anything specific you'd like to better understand or learn, let me know and I'll try to make it happen :D Happy learning!
