project does not load in Xcode4.2 4C199

I:

• cloned your repository
• opened it in xcode
• got following error (red exclamation mark at Briefs project->Briefs.xcodeproj->Workspace Integrity):
  Couldn't load Briefs.xcodeproj because it is already opened from another project or workspace

Any thoughts would be helpful

Couldn't replicate this problem on a Mac with Xcode 4.3 4E2002.

Xcode identifies a few build settings that it wants to change (obsolete build warnings, sdk set to older versions, etc) but offers to fix them and seems to do it successfully, because I can compile and run Briefs in the simulator without issue.
