We experienced performance issues with GTDB-Tk in the last iteration of the course. Runs were excessively long and consumed large amounts of memory, caused instances to fail. A typical error message was: Step 5 of 9: Caching likelihood information on reference tree (62.51/78.96 GB, 79.16%).. We are currently investigating the cause. @lkalmar, please let us know if you find a workaround. This appears to be a memory issue related to pplacer.
