Research Request - New speed tables: trip average speeds and average route speeds by time-of-day

Complete the below when receiving a research request, and continue to add to this issue as you receive additional details and produce deliverables. Be sure to also add the appropriate project-level label to this issue (eg gtfs-rt, DLA).

Research Question

Single sentence description: Start from pre-processing filtering stage and calculate speed across entire trip. Use this to get time-of-day speed averages for each route. These tabular table(s) can accompany the segment speeds for open data portal.

Detailed description:

• usable trips need to have at least 10 min of data (new rec in [preprocessing review]Research Request - review RT segments speeds preprocessing stages #751))
• Double check that loop_or_inlining shapes can be calculated correctly. Perhaps we keep 3 or 4 points to better triangulate distance if origin/destination is the same (loop shapes)
• Calling it average route speeds....but we should probably take the median trip speed
• Can add the number of minutes with vp coverage that we needed as part of the predictions POC
• Epic - Daskify RT segment speeds #592

How will this research be used?

Include summary tables that are fairly easy to calculate as part of the speeds data package we can publish.
