Currently, we (mostly) enforce filter exclusivity between VHs and pathview items (endpoints, xovers, strands), but I often find myself trying to edit by clicking on pathview items with the VH filter enabled and vice versa, and nothing happens. Conversely, creating and editing designs in previous versions of cadnano felt relatively fast and intuitive because it was not necessary to toggle between filtering modes in order to enable/disable features.

I'm wondering if we could restore some of the older feel by allowing all filters to be turned on simultaneously, and then use the option to disable filters as a way to perform more precise/complex edits where items may overlap in the UI.
