An admin should be able to "lock" a channel from new participation, after which new things that show up in the channel get auto-deleted by camille until the admin unlocks the channel

I don't know if the chat.delete API would support this though.

an alternative to this might be something like Camille "freezing" a channel, where: 1) the current member list is saved and 2) the channel is archived.

Then when the channel is unarchived/unfrozen, Camille could re-add everyone to the channel who was there before.
