been stuck on Loading envs settings...
for a few weeks, reset a bunch of times. deleted folders... any idea?

Got the same issue as OP, but could be a different cause. A little drill through developer console logs and it seems it's having issue with email addresses that have a period in them.

Is the name of the vault/environment your email? If so, unfortunately that will currently cause issues 🌴

Not the name of my vault/environment, but the folder location, as it’s synced with Google Drive (on Mac google drive folder includes email in the folder path).

Gotcha. Periods in file paths will cause issues currently. It's something that will likely be addressed in a future update, but unfortunately there isn't a good workaround right now 🌴

still cant get smart connection to work at all anymore. tried new obsidian vaults, fresh installs, deleting old user data, reinstalling, resetting, over and over . moved vault to my root user folder - what's going on ?

Same problem. I used a symbolic link to avoid name folders with periods.
