I believe the verified check mark in social media is important to prevent celebrity impersonation and disinformation

Describe the solution you'd like

I believe a good decentralized way would be using what the internet already uses and use trusted 3rd parties to verify users. They can use a PKI CA method or just have a list of users and handles that they trust and servers they trust.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Alternatives would be having a verified subdomain for their handles.
Having a checkmark programmed in for the server would make it more visible that they are who they say they are.
