CUDA Setup failed despite GPU being available. #558
Comments
Please change your cuda version and try it out. |
I can only use version CUDA 11.7, and I often encounter this error. The key question is, why can it run without errors at times, and at other times it throws this error?the code is in same |
Try upgrading your package version: |
This is likely a problem with your environment or some libraries loading different CUDA versions. Please run the command Also, note Windows is currently not supported and things can be brittle. You can find more information here: #30 |
An upgraded bitsandbytes version might resolve this issue. However, note that Windows is currently not supported. You can find more information here: #30 |

CUDA SETUP: Problem: The main issue seems to be that the main CUDA library was not detected.
CUDA SETUP: Solution 1): Your paths are probably not up-to-date. You can update them via: sudo ldconfig.
CUDA SETUP: Solution 2): If you do not have sudo rights, you can do the following:
CUDA SETUP: Solution 2a): Find the cuda library via: find / -name libcuda.so 2>/dev/null
CUDA SETUP: Solution 2b): Once the library is found add it to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:FOUND_PATH_FROM_2a
CUDA SETUP: Solution 2c): For a permanent solution add the export from 2b into your .bashrc file, located at ~/.bashrc
