Hello Mark,

I'm Olivier and work with your xpl-perl for some years now..... I love it and it is now critical to run my house!

I am trying to developped a "teleinfo" modem reader using your IO:Handler and I can see in the code that you set parity and bits option for the serial device by default 8bits odd using option pass8 in the stty. You have recently change your code (last year) to use Device::Serial instead of the stty option path to system.

However, looking at your new code the option parity and bits and still set by default.

My teleinfo modem is using 1200 baud cs7 (parity even and 7bits)... I know it is odd (no joke) but this is the way the french electricity meter are made.....

I don't know how active your are on this project but I just submit that enhancement to you for the sake of improving. I will do a hard change in the meantime

My kindliest regards!

-olivier
