There are 367 clients that pay us using DIRECT DEPOSIT (EFT) today. Initially, only these accounts will be allowed to choose EFT in the new system.

Proposal:

  1. Modernized accounts will have a flag added to indicate client is eligible for EFT
  2. Client can then view that option and select it if they wish
  3. On a case-by-case basis, the flag can be applied to other premium accounts
  4. When this flag is added to an account, a welcome email should be triggered. (See design below)

Scenario 1 - I am an account admin for an account that is allowed to pay via EFT.
GIVEN I'm an admin on an account that has paid via EFT (legacy term:Direct Deposit) historically
WHEN the 'EFT Allowed' flag has been set on my account
THEN I receive an email saying that EFT is now selectable (separate ticket - #17829)
AND my payment options are now updated to match designs below (EFT available to select)

@danaannab please ask Kaine if we should adopt the current BCOL Admin process for vetting new EFT clients.

Kaine S (29 June 2023):
The vision is that EFT payments will be available for commercial clients assuming we end up with one account type it would be a semi automated flow. The below is just off the top of my head and what I have seen in other large entities, please question it all and open to any recommendation.

Client
Given I am a commercial client
When I go to the payment tab
Then I can request pay by EFT

Staff
Given I am BCOL admin
When I go to the staff dashboard
Then a work item with an EFT request is shown to action, review, approve or reject

The parameters of when a client can use EFT could be like below but we should chat with other groups that do it like BC hydro has a process for eft and commercial clients.

Things like…
Size of company
Type of business – lawfirm, rcmp, sec, alberta, other go entities
** we want a way in the future to verify they are a law firm as it would give them more privileges just as an fyi

Business maybe not allowed to use it
API users
Current PAD users
