How to contribute

Hi, I'm a first-time contributor. I recently submitted a pull request (#1664) that was closed without any comments. I'm uncertain whether I missed something in the contributing guide or if the feature I proposed is not desirable for the project.

Could someone please provide guidance or feedback on what might have gone wrong? Thank you!
