Steam window sliding to the bottom right corner of the screen (or Steam windows jump around when they receive focus)

This is an issue with the Steam client and seemingly has been for more than 10 years. Steam and steam windows (e.g. games) trigger a ConfigureNotify request every time they receive focus. More so the configure event tends to have the wrong x and y coordinates which can make floating windows jump around the screen.

There are two known solutions for this issue:

1) wait for Valve to fix this in the client or

2) take the steam patch

Officially the steam client only supports Ubuntu (i.e. Gnome).
