I am currently conducting microstate analysis using the MST 1.0 and have a question regarding the ordering of the GEV values obtained from the analysis.

According to the MST 1.0 Guide, the microstate prototypes are sorted by decreasing global explained variance by default. However, when I perform microstate analysis on my dataset, I've noticed that the order of GEV values for the first subject I analyzed does not appear to be in descending order. Additionally, when I aggregate the GEV values across all subjects, the cumulative GEV values also do not seem to be sorted in descending order.

I am curious if there might be an error in my procedure or if I am misunderstanding the expected output. Could you please clarify the following points?

  1. Are the GEV values obtained from microstate.stats.GEV in one-to-one correspondence with the output topography?
  2. Are there any specific considerations or steps I should take to ensure that the GEV values are sorted correctly based on the global explained variance?

I would appreciate any guidance you can provide on this. Thank you for your time and help.
