Default search bar text persistence issues

When you copy and paste something into the search bar, then try to click on the search bar, the text you've pasted disappears.

Tested in 7.6 and 8.0.x

The search bar actually clears when you click anywhere, not just back in the search bar

Seems to be an issue with the Select2 dropdown. Some relevant discussion about possible workarounds here: select2/select2#3902

I think this is a regression that occurred with changes to this component in 7.6.0, so it makes sense to target 7.6 with a fix.

@chiatt we've noticed it in 7.5.x too, as we first found it in AfHER. Good to know it should be targeted at 7.6.x and not 8.0.0.

Just to add something else to this issue that seems related, it's not possible to right click the search bar and paste (doesn't show up in the options) after a search filter has been applied. The only way to paste is using Ctrl + V.

Weirdly, this is only the case when a filter is applied. With no filters, right clicking shows the copy and paste options.
