I found your crate works on MacOS without any issue.

I took a stab at this. The big issues is rust is unable to fetch the equivalent windows metadata data within the standard release. See here rust-lang/rust#63010 and here https://doc.rust-lang.org/std/os/windows/fs/trait.MetadataExt.html
