DESCRIPTION

Apache Royale is a new implementation of the principles of Apache Flex, designed for JavaScript instead of Adobe Flash/AIR runtimes. Apache Royale improves developer productivity in creating applications to run wherever JavaScript runs, including on browsers as well as in Apache Cordova applications, Node, etc.

ISSUES

There are no issues requiring board attention at this time.

RELEASES

• Apache Royale 0.9.2 was released on March 16 2018.
• Apache Royale 0.9.4 was released on November 14 2018.
• Apache Royale 0.9.6 was released on October 1 2019

ACTIVITY

• A lot of time has been invested in helping users who are trying port their application from Flex to Royale. There are also increases activities and questions from new users in area of porting Flex applications to Royale.
• Many activity in the emulation and improvements of MX and Spark Flex component sets.
• There are great progress in performance improvement for one of the module.
• New important components for Jewel UI Set are under development (ButtonBar, DataGrid, and more) that are very needed for people in the community.
• Many improvements in the Compiler continue to be contributed.
• Release process has been significantly simplified and tested with 0.9.6 release, but we continue to try to streamline the process of build and release event more since is one of the areas we need to continue improving to gain more traction of new users.
• Royale Docs continues to be improved as the project is developed.
• We had a lot of activity on social networks, sharing what is happening in Apache Royale as we progress in the project. We think it is important to do this so people outside the project and not following in a daily basis can get a notion of how we are doing. The numbers are:
  • Our Twitter account has gained 610 (previous 590) followers since we opened it.
  • Our Facebook page has 144 (previously 130) likes.
  • Our LinkedIn Group has 129 (previously 126) people.
  • Our StackOVerFlow "apache-royale" tag has currently 43 questions.
• A Slack channel in the the-as.slack.com called "royale" was recently added to experiment with it.

COMMUNITY

• Greg Dove has been added as a new PMC member on October.
