Before reporting your issue

  • My version of Firefox is up to date (for 115, this means being on at least 115.16.1)
  • My copy of Geckium is up to date (no update option in the hamburger/spanner menu)
  • I deleted the entire "chrome" folder from my Firefox Profile, if there was one, before installing Geckium

What browser are you running Geckium on?

Mozilla Firefox

What Operating System are you running Geckium on?

Mac OS 14.5

Summarise the issue

AFAIK it has affected users using windows and mac, and is annoying for me

How do you reproduce the bug/inaccuracy?

  1. open a new tab page, the issue should be apparent

Expected behaviour or design

The preview image should fully take up the blank area, similar to this.

High DPI thumbnail preview image creation issue. Need to figure out a way to prevent this.

update: seems that it only happens on macos for me
although i am using 1024x768 on my windows pc

This bug seems to happen to me when I move Firefox to my main monitor, which is 2560x1440, yet the tab was last rendered on my secondary monitor which is 1366x768. This might be a bug relating with relying on current window size instead of the size of the rendered contents. Same bug happens vice-versa, except it crops the thumbnail instead of having black areas

Nope, both are 96 DPI.
