  • update on the commerce (shopping) attachment

Shopping attachment going out very shortly, just waiting on the blog post, code is in production already, see the I2S for more info: ampproject/amphtml#37570
Jay Gray10:06 AM
Would you consider relaxing some of the mandatory fields so that it can be generalized?ability to link to a position in attachment is very useful.
or an object
the pricing field is mandatory
we'll provide a use case for consideration
Captions are coming out soon (Gabriel has the most context on captions)

  • GA4 news?

Amp analytics can send pings to your own server, and you can use server side tagging to forward them to google analytics 4. The actual server side code (server side tagging), the amp team still needs to actively investigate.
Launched feature when videos in a story have audio earlier in the year, still has a few bugs, we’re looking into it.
Working on a feature that shows a preview of story content.
Ryan Warrender: We put in a lot of effort into things that people wanted, but didn’t end up paying off. We want to launch things that are in high demand.
Jon Newmuis: Having new Features for the sake of new features is not a good investment - make sure that the demand is there.

  • Page Attachment

Jay Gray10:21 AM
page attachment is one of our favorite features!
Dan Holowack10:24 AM
page attachment is our most used feature too
Pratik Ghela10:26 AM
Our users are not happy with the new CTA button. They want customizable CTAs
Customize the background color and the text color
Jon: We will follow up with UX, they are probably not opposed to the idea.
Need to see which properties (border-radius, height, width, etc.) need to be discussed
Pratik: Swipe up: CTA link must open in a new tab (not the same tab)
(browser restriction (affects all browsers due to webkit))iOS cannot open a new tab to an untrusted user gesture (swipes are an untrusted gesture.)
The content creator community cares because they don’t get the ad revenue
User Experience vs the API
Charles-Axel Pauwels: Prefers consistent experience (i.e. on iOS and Android, page attachment outlink behavior should be the same)
Jon newmuis: tooltip: control user experience, but if the format doesn’t have control over the button styling / user experience… (users have invisible links… )

We have a similar issue in attachments.
We would like to have a tab selectors in attachment.
But we get irregular handling of the selector process.
So it falls into the category: buttons in attachments
Jay Gray10:41 AM
Building on your comment: make is safe to tap a button in attachments
Charles-Axel Pauwels: Maybe add buttons just like in shopping tags, you can place them anywhere on the page to replace the swipe up cta. (link tag that goes out of the page.)
Jon: Scroll pane navigation (just like using a regular web page); page attachments are safe for buttons and links, etc.
Having tabs in page attachment - will follow up on this one. (may be due to validation rules, etc.)

  • When we will be able to use the native html tag

Jon: If there’s a strong use case for the native html image tag we can look into it. GoogleForCreators/web-stories-wp#10213
