Thu, please create MR in gitlab first.

In EVT Mt.Jade platform, when the host is off, OCP card losts the power.
This causes NC-SI driver will log below warnings after each 1 seconds:
"NCSI Channel 0 timed out!"
"NCSI: No channel with link found, configuring channel 0!"
"NCSI: 'bad' packet ignored for type"
These warnings can be ignored as community feedback.
This commit removes them.

Testing:
	1. Power off the host in EVT Mt.Jade platform.
	2. The warnings should not be displayed.

commit 59c026c upstream.

When use 'echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger' to trigger kdump, riscv_crash_save_regs()
will be called to save regs for vmcore, we found "epc" value 00ffffffa5537400
is not a valid kernel virtual address, but is a user virtual address. Other
regs(eg, ra, sp, gp...) are correct kernel virtual address.
Actually 0x00ffffffb0dd9400 is the user mode PC of 'PID: 113 Comm: sh', which
is saved in the task's stack.

commit dc4d316 upstream.

[BUG]
If we have a btrfs image with dirty log, along with an unsupported RO
compatible flag:

log_root		30474240
...
compat_flags		0x0
compat_ro_flags		0x40000003
			( FREE_SPACE_TREE |
			  FREE_SPACE_TREE_VALID |
			  unknown flag: 0x40000000 )

Then even if we can only mount it RO, we will still cause metadata
update for log replay:

  BTRFS info (device dm-1): flagging fs with big metadata feature
  BTRFS info (device dm-1): using free space tree
  BTRFS info (device dm-1): has skinny extents
  BTRFS info (device dm-1): start tree-log replay

This is definitely against RO compact flag requirement.

[CAUSE]
RO compact flag only forces us to do RO mount, but we will still do log
replay for plain RO mount.

Thus this will result us to do log replay and update metadata.

This can be very problematic for new RO compat flag, for example older
kernel can not understand v2 cache, and if we allow metadata update on
RO mount and invalidate/corrupt v2 cache.

[FIX]
Just reject the mount unless rescue=nologreplay is provided:

  BTRFS error (device dm-1): cannot replay dirty log with unsupport optional features (0x40000000), try rescue=nologreplay instead

We don't want to set rescue=nologreply directly, as this would make the
end user to read the old data, and cause confusion.

Since the such case is really rare, we're mostly fine to just reject the
mount with an error message, which also includes the proper workaround.

The fix is re-ordering the code related to OPP core. The OPP core
expects all configuration options to be provided before the OPP

This isn't necessarily new, it's just tricky to hit in practice. There
are two competing things going on here. With relocation we create a
snapshot of every fs tree with a reloc tree. Any extent buffers that
get initialized here are initialized with the reloc root lockdep key.
However since it is a snapshot, any blocks that are currently in cache
that originally belonged to the fs tree will have the normal tree
lockdep key set. This creates the lock dependency of

  reloc tree -> normal tree

for the extent buffer locking during the first phase of the relocation
as we walk down the reloc root to relocate blocks.

However this is problematic because the final phase of the relocation is
merging the reloc root into the original fs root. This involves
searching down to any keys that exist in the original fs root and then
swapping the relocated block and the original fs root block. We have to
search down to the fs root first, and then go search the reloc root for
the block we need to replace. This creates the dependency of

  normal tree -> reloc tree

which is why lockdep complains.

Additionally even if we were to fix this particular mismatch with a
different nesting for the merge case, we're still slotting in a block
that has a owner of the reloc root objectid into a normal tree, so that
block will have its lockdep key set to the tree reloc root, and create a
lockdep splat later on when we wander into that block from the fs root.

Unfortunately the only solution here is to make sure we do not set the
lockdep key to the reloc tree lockdep key normally, and then reset any
blocks we wander into from the reloc root when we're doing the merged.

This solves the problem of having mixed tree reloc keys intermixed with
normal tree keys, and then allows us to make sure in the merge case we
maintain the lock order of

  normal tree -> reloc tree

We handle this by setting a bit on the reloc root when we do the search
for the block we want to relocate, and any block we search into or COW
at that point gets set to the reloc tree key. This works correctly
because we only ever COW down to the parent node, so we aren't resetting
the key for the block we're linking into the fs root.

With this patch we no longer have the lockdep splat in btrfs/187.

The SRv6 layer allows defining HMAC data that can later be used to sign IPv6
Segment Routing Headers. This configuration is realised via netlink through
four attributes: SEG6_ATTR_HMACKEYID, SEG6_ATTR_SECRET, SEG6_ATTR_SECRETLEN and
SEG6_ATTR_ALGID. Because the SECRETLEN attribute is decoupled from the actual
length of the SECRET attribute, it is possible to provide invalid combinations
(e.g., secret = "", secretlen = 64). This case is not checked in the code and
with an appropriately crafted netlink message, an out-of-bounds read of up
to 64 bytes (max secret length) can occur past the skb end pointer and into
skb_shared_info:

That is because in __bpf_prog_exit_recur, the preempt_count_{sub,add} are
called after prog->active is decreased.

Fixing this by adding these two functions into btf ids deny list.

In the function ieee80211_tx_dequeue() there is a particular locking
sequence:

begin:
	spin_lock(&local->queue_stop_reason_lock);
	q_stopped = local->queue_stop_reasons[q];
	spin_unlock(&local->queue_stop_reason_lock);

However small the chance (increased by ftracetest), an asynchronous
interrupt can occur in between of spin_lock() and spin_unlock(),
and the interrupt routine will attempt to lock the same
&local->queue_stop_reason_lock again.

This will cause a costly reset of the CPU and the wifi device or an
altogether hang in the single CPU and single core scenario.

The only remaining spin_lock(&local->queue_stop_reason_lock) that
did not disable interrupts was patched, which should prevent any
deadlocks on the same CPU/core and the same wifi device.

This is the probable trace of the deadlock:

syzkaller found a data race of pkt_sk(sk)->num.

The value is changed under lock_sock() and po->bind_lock, so we
need READ_ONCE() to access pkt_sk(sk)->num without these locks in
packet_bind_spkt(), packet_bind(), and sk_diag_fill().

Note that WRITE_ONCE() is already added by commit c7d2ef5

vhost_worker will call tun call backs to receive packets. If too many
illegal packets arrives, tun_do_read will keep dumping packet contents.
When console is enabled, it will costs much more cpu time to dump
packet and soft lockup will be detected.

net_ratelimit mechanism can be used to limit the dumping rate.

thangqn-ampere pushed a commit that referenced this pull request Aug 6, 2024
commit 9e985cb upstream.

Drop support for virtualizing adaptive PEBS, as KVM's implementation is
architecturally broken without an obvious/easy path forward, and because
exposing adaptive PEBS can leak host LBRs to the guest, i.e. can leak
host kernel addresses to the guest.

Bug #1 is that KVM doesn't account for the upper 32 bits of
IA32_FIXED_CTR_CTRL when (re)programming fixed counters, e.g
fixed_ctrl_field() drops the upper bits, reprogram_fixed_counters()
stores local variables as u8s and truncates the upper bits too, etc.

Bug #2 is that, because KVM _always_ sets precise_ip to a non-zero value
for PEBS events, perf will _always_ generate an adaptive record, even if
the guest requested a basic record. Note, KVM will also enable adaptive
PEBS in individual *counter*, even if adaptive PEBS isn't exposed to the
guest, but this is benign as MSR_PEBS_DATA_CFG is guaranteed to be zero,
i.e. the guest will only ever see Basic records.

Bug #3 is in perf. intel_pmu_disable_fixed() doesn't clear the upper
bits either, i.e. leaves ICL_FIXED_0_ADAPTIVE set, and
intel_pmu_enable_fixed() effectively doesn't clear ICL_FIXED_0_ADAPTIVE
either. I.e. perf _always_ enables ADAPTIVE counters, regardless of what
KVM requests.

Bug #4 is that adaptive PEBS *might* effectively bypass event filters set
by the host, as "Updated Memory Access Info Group" records information
that might be disallowed by userspace via KVM_SET_PMU_EVENT_FILTER.

Bug openbmc#5 is that KVM doesn't ensure LBR MSRs hold guest values (or at least
zeros) when entering a vCPU with adaptive PEBS, which allows the guest
to read host LBRs, i.e. host RIPs/addresses, by enabling "LBR Entries"
records.

Disable adaptive PEBS support as an immediate fix due to the severity of
the LBR leak in particular, and because fixing all of the bugs will be
non-trivial, e.g. not suitable for backporting to stable kernels.

Note! This will break live migration, but trying to make KVM play nice
with live migration would be quite complicated, wouldn't be guaranteed to
work (i.e. KVM might still kill/confuse the guest), and it's not clear
that there are any publicly available VMMs that support adaptive PEBS,
let alone live migrate VMs that support adaptive PEBS, e.g. QEMU doesn't
support PEBS in any capacity.

    __hugetlb_vmemmap_restore_folio
     static_key_slow_dec
      cpus_read_lock -- rlock(cpu_hotplug_lock)

Fix this by calling drain_all_pages() instead.

This issue won't occur until commit a6b4085 ("mm: hugetlb: replace
hugetlb_free_vmemmap_enabled with a static_key").  As it introduced
rlock(cpu_hotplug_lock) in dissolve_free_huge_page() code path while
lock(pcp_batch_high_lock) is already in the __page_handle_poison().

[ Upstream commit c3a5e3e ]

When using cachefiles, lockdep may emit something similar to the circular
locking dependency notice below. The problem appears to stem from the
following:

 (1) Cachefiles manipulates xattrs on the files in its cache when called
     from ->writepages().

 (2) The setxattr() and removexattr() system call handlers get the name
     (and value) from userspace after taking the sb_writers lock, putting
     accesses of the vma->vm_lock and mm->mmap_lock inside of that.

 (3) The afs filesystem uses a per-inode lock to prevent multiple
     revalidation RPCs and in writeback vs truncate to prevent parallel
     operations from deadlocking against the server on one side and local
     page locks on the other.

Fix this by moving the getting of the name and value in {get,remove}xattr()
outside of the sb_writers lock. This also has the minor benefits that we
don't need to reget these in the event of a retry and we never try to take
the sb_writers lock in the event we can't pull the name and value into the
kernel.

Alternative approaches that might fix this include moving the dispatch of a
write to the cache off to a workqueue or trying to do without the
validation lock in afs. Note that this might also affect other filesystems
that use netfslib and/or cachefiles.

This is a minimal userspace reproducer on a Raspberry Pi Zero W:

    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <math.h>

    int main(void)
    {
            double v = 1.0;
            printf("%fn", NAN + *(volatile double *)&v);
            return 0;
    }

Another way to consistently trigger the oops is:

    calvin@raspberry-pi-zero-w ~$ python -c "import json"

The bug reproduces only when the kernel is built with DYNAMIC_DEBUG=n,
because the pr_debug() calls act as barriers even when not activated.

This is the output from the same kernel source built with the same
compiler and DYNAMIC_DEBUG=y, where the userspace reproducer works as
expected:

    VFP: bounce: trigger ec532b17 fpexc c0000780
    VFP: emulate: INST=0xee377b06 SCR=0x00000000
    VFP: bounce: trigger eef1fa10 fpexc c0000780
    VFP: emulate: INST=0xeeb40b40 SCR=0x00000000
    VFP: raising exceptions 30000000

    calvin@raspberry-pi-zero-w ~$ ./vfp-reproducer
    nan

Crudely grepping for vmsr/vmrs instructions in the otherwise nearly
idential text for vfp_support_entry() makes the problem obvious:

I think LLVM's reordering is valid as the code is currently written: the
compiler doesn't know the instructions have side effects in hardware.

Fix by using "asm volatile" in fmxr() and fmrx(), so they cannot be
reordered with respect to each other. The original compiler now produces
working kernels on my hardware with DYNAMIC_DEBUG=n.

This is the relevant piece of the diff of the vfp_support_entry() text,
from the original oopsing kernel to a working kernel with this patch:

thangqn-ampere pushed a commit that referenced this pull request Nov 27, 2024
commit 44d1745 upstream.

Use a dedicated mutex to guard kvm_usage_count to fix a potential deadlock
on x86 due to a chain of locks and SRCU synchronizations. Translating the
below lockdep splat, CPU1 openbmc#6 will wait on CPU0 #1, CPU0 openbmc#8 will wait on
CPU2 #3, and CPU2 openbmc#7 will wait on CPU1 #4 (if there's a writer, due to the
fairness of r/w semaphores).

    CPU0                     CPU1                     CPU2
1   lock(&kvm->slots_lock);
2                                                     lock(&vcpu->mutex);
3                                                     lock(&kvm->srcu);
4                            lock(cpu_hotplug_lock);
5                            lock(kvm_lock);
6                            lock(&kvm->slots_lock);
7                                                     lock(cpu_hotplug_lock);
8   sync(&kvm->srcu);

Note, there are likely more potential deadlocks in KVM x86, e.g. the same
pattern of taking cpu_hotplug_lock outside of kvm_lock likely exists with
__kvmclock_cpufreq_notifier():

  cpuhp_cpufreq_online()
  |
  -> cpufreq_online()
     |
     -> cpufreq_gov_performance_limits()
        |
        -> __cpufreq_driver_target()
           |
           -> __target_index()
              |
              -> cpufreq_freq_transition_begin()
                 |
                 -> cpufreq_notify_transition()
                    |
                    -> ... __kvmclock_cpufreq_notifier()

But, actually triggering such deadlocks is beyond rare due to the
combination of dependencies and timings involved. E.g. the cpufreq
notifier is only used on older CPUs without a constant TSC, mucking with
the NX hugepage mitigation while VMs are running is very uncommon, and
doing so while also onlining/offlining a CPU (necessary to generate
contention on cpu_hotplug_lock) would be even more unusual.

The most robust solution to the general cpu_hotplug_lock issue is likely
to switch vm_list to be an RCU-protected list, e.g. so that x86's cpufreq
notifier doesn't to take kvm_lock. For now, settle for fixing the most
blatant deadlock, as switching to an RCU-protected list is a much more
involved change, but add a comment in locking.rst to call out that care
needs to be taken when walking holding kvm_lock and walking vm_list.
