It appears that the .hic format files produced by juicer-tools v2+ are not compatible with Juicebox v1. Did you all change the format of the files?
This version incompatibility appears to be responsible for the cryptic "error loading .hic file" errors in Juicebox that are reported in several other bug reports.
The problem is also present when trying to view .hic tracks in the UCSC genome browser. Files produced with juicer-tools v2+ fail to load in the UCSC browser, producing an error like "udcDataViaHttpOrFtp: error reading socket".
Files produced with juicer-tools v1 are fine.
I think you should put warnings on the juicer-tools download pages; this was a very difficult issue to figure out.
