Just been looking at https://github.com/rstudio/flexdashboard and it makes think about rapid prototyping. There is a spectrum of detail, including:

  • Sketching on Google Presentations/Excalidraw etc
  • Front end design tools like Figma and storybook (which looks amazing btw)
  • Rapid prototyping tools that require minimal code and time to get things started like flexdashboard (are there any others worth a shot?)
  • Deployment in production, perhaps using one of the frameworks in Frontend tech stack references atip#20

There can be overlap between them but my current thinking is that it's worth having an intermediate stage between purely conceptual designs and production ready designs. Will document any storyboarding/design ideating here for reference and any pointers on that before I do (no imminent plans) welcome.

Note it's a bit laggy and not necessarily scalable or good at ingesting data, but good for a step after sketching and getting data and UI components visualised to tell a story quick.
