Discussion 🗣

  • I'd like to propose a solution to encourage activity on PRs & issues so that they do not become stale, and also automate the closing of stale issues/PRs

Context

  • We have a lot of old issues and PRs in many of the AP repos that are no longer relevant.
  • We sometimes get PRs from contributors that get close to the finish line but ultimately become forgotten about. If we could set up a way to remind participants involved periodically, it may help.

Detailed Description

  • Set up a bot to comment on PRs after a few days(weeks?) of inactivity and tag the participants to encourage them to re-visit the PR
  • Set up a bot to auto-close stale PRs/issues. Maybe first have the bot comment a warning that the issue/PR will be closed due to inactivity in X days
  • We should look into how other open source projects handle this

We might be able to use Github actions for this: https://github.com/actions/stale

@DianaLease can you create issues for this using the GitHub Action in each of the main repos. This would be a nice task for new joiners to the community.
