Breaks existing samba shares without warning

Breaks my existing configuration by rewriting instead of appending /etc/samba/smb.conf file without warning.

Context

Fresh install of yunohost on dell workstation.
I added hard drives to use as a samba share and this up manually by editing /etc/samba/smb.conf

Needs documentation

Where are the share directories located?
Can I decide where to point the shared directory?
Where did my original /etc/samba/smb.conf go?
