get a plugin that enables the experiments ui (vencord has a plugin for this), go to the experiments tab in user settings, find the experiment named "Desktop Visual Refresh" and set it to Control

i'm rewriting DTM-16 now so unless i lose motivation to work on this at some point (and discord really seems to love killing any motivation i have) hopefully DTM-08 will also either get a rewrite or a more proper fix
but until i'm done i'll leave this issue open
