I was thinking about this for previous 2 hours
I suggest you guys to make an application instead of extension there are many things you can do with application you can't just do with a browser extension there are many limitations for making an extension and you guys knows what those limitations are and the most important thing you guys never have to worry about your extension killed off by chrome (Seriously I saw this happening many times) and it can even boost your userbase many users are on firefox too so they would love this application because a full-text search is running system wide
So what do you think guys.

Hey @Droyk

Thats a great idea and definitely planned. For example to provide features like searching the local filesystem for documents. The chrome extension is quite limited in what it can do.

We are still in the research phase on how to approach this. Its not on any near roadmap though.

Regarding firefox: This will come very soon. As soon as we have the web-based view we can port the extension to firefox.

definitely planned

why don't you guys start making it now? if you start making it now then in near future your product will be ready stop procrastinating guys.

Sorry I know I am being pushy & blunt but 😟 I really want to see this project getting abandon or something (happens many times)

Because we are simply missing the resources at this point. Also we just started out with this project and have to make this tool running smoothly for the users and deliver a strong enough value proposition to them.

Otherwise there is no need to make a dedicated application afterall.

There are many projects that deliver a similar feature set and they have not been removed by chrome at this point.
So I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

Can you name a few examples so I can look into them and the reasons why they have been removed?

for example decilizer (my father's fav. he really liked it that's the reason I still remember the name) was released on chrome store in 2010 I think and then just after a month chrome dev shut it down for privacy reasons ... after that 2 to 3 extension was made on the same concept but they stop developing it for some reason I think because of low the userbase and there was a one more extension I forgot it's name it got removed because of chrome store TOS :(

What was decilizer doing?

same like you guys I think give or take some features out of it that time that extension was just storing every website text in user preferred email.

yes, I know why. I exchange mails with the original developer.

He just didnt want it to be a privacy leak for identity theft. Not google pulled it from the store, but the guy himself.
