Highlight text: Auto-inserted periods do not match selected text color until typing is continued

Description

After setting a highlighted text color, period characters inserted from double-tapping the space key do not receive the correct text color. Continuing to type ultimately applies the correct text color to the period. This issue only occurs on Android, it does not occur on iOS.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

1. Add a Paragraph block in the native block editor.
2. Tap the text color button, i.e. the A button in the block toolbar.
3. Set a color for the text.
4. Type text followed by double-tapping the space bar quickly.

Expected behaviour

The period character entered is the currently set text color.

Actual behaviour

The period character entered is the default text color.
