Captions/subtitles for the WizardTim YouTube channel videos and other content.
This repository is mostly just for me to keep better track of changes and to backup the files for each video, but I've made it public in case others want to do stuff with it.
- Files for each language use the IETF BCP 47 language tag as the filename.
- Title & Description are stored in a .txt file with the first line being the title, and all lines below being the description.
- Captions are stored in a .vtt (WebVTT) file (advanced subtitle formats such as SubStation Alpha are not supported).
- All files are UTF-8 encoded
Yes, as of 2023, 48.0% of viewers watch with English captions, many from countries where the primary language is not English.
Yes, you can create a pull request with corrections and I will review them, those changes will be reflected on YouTube when I merge it.
Yes, you can create a pull request with translations for any ISO 639 recognised language (if it isn't recognised ask in a GitHub issue).
I don't think there's much point in spending the time for different en-AU / en-US versions (currently YouTube doesn't support this anyway), they are close enough anyway. However, if you want to contribute a variation for something with more significant differences like zh-CN / zh-TW or similar, ask in a GitHub issue.
YouTube removed community captions and a public repository is better for accessibility, tracking changes and moderation.
No, those platforms currently don't support captions.
