thing-url-adapter: TypeError: Cannot read property 'startsWith' of null

every time i try to search for new devices i get the error below:
using the stock image for RP PI flashed directly to an sdcard.
why things are not compatible anymore, can you please pint out which version of thing-url-adapter is compatible with gateway release 1.0.0 dec 2020? or should i use a previous release of the gateway if yes which one please.
