[FEATURE] Allow Proton-GE to be installed for Lutris #270
Comments
I am currently doing my basic military training so I will not be available for a while, but once I can I will do it for sure. |
proton-sarek would be another one to add to the list to install as there seems to be a decent amount of users who want to use lutris but have older hardware and proton-sarek helps with that |
@polluxau I am soon done with my basic military training. I will add both when I am done with it. Sorry for the delay. |
No need to apologize! I was looking into changing this myself, but I noticed you were working on a major refactor. Would you rather me not work on a PR for now? |
@michaelBelsanti If you create a PR I may have time to merge it and push an update next weekend. I can simply add your modification manually to the refactor branch. It's close to being done, but not yet. |
Ok, I messed with it for a bit but I'll have to get a little more familiar with Vala to clean it up. |
I was able to add proton support for lutris in the refactor branch without any problems. Which proton runners would you like to see there? |
I think Proton-GE is the most important one to add. Some of the other options like Proton-Tkg and Proton-Sarek might be good too. As of the last time I tested, NorthstarProton doesn't work as expected on Lutris. |
Also do you think I should remove Wine-GE from the Lutris options since it's no longer being maintained? |
I would say yes but it's up to you and others |
At the moment, ProtonPlus doesn't have any Proton versions listed in the Lutris section. I assume this is because for a while Lutris recommended against using Proton in favor of Wine. Now that they support using umu-launcher to run games using Proton, I think this should be changed.
You can currently just use any Proton versions you install to Steam to work around this, but I don't believe this would work with Flatpaks.
