[3rd party game][ubuntu 13.10][steam]game evolution RTS won't deliver correctly

platform: ubuntu 13.10 64bit
steam for linux latest ver.

game: evolution RTS. linux version.

how to reproduce the issue:

use steam for linux.

start steam client, use steam integrated browser to view the store.steampowered.com
webpage.

then login your steam account, then search for evolution RTS, this game.

then, into the evolution RTS(app/game) page.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/291150/

then, due to i use steam client integrated browser, so i can click play button of the webpage, to start download linux version of the game.

but, when downloading, it may start, then finish downloading very quickly.

i mean linux version of evolution RTS.

and after the "quick " download, i go to the game folder

../SteamApps/common/EvolutionRTS/

actually, this folder is empty. nothing there. and if you start the game with steam client for linux, it would tell you:

failed to start game(missing executable) .

of course missing exe, due to, the game not downloaded correctly at all!

so. could you please help check it on the steam platform?

does this game really support linux?

There appears to be no linux depot associated with this game (http://steamdb.info/app/291150/#section_depots), please contact the game developer.

This is a general error and is caused by game developers marking that their game supports an OS and they do not configure it to actually provide the game content for that OS in the regular, no-opt-in branch of the game (#28).

thanks, tele42, on don't starve game forum(klei entertainment), you once helped me, of course, ubuntu linux issue around steam, (if you are the same guy), you are really a linux geek-gamers~ looks like,
http://www.frozenyak.com/
there is no evolution RTS game entry, so, maybe this game is developed by another team, also named as frozen yak, so, there are 2 game dev teams both named as frozen yak~
you can see
http://www.indiedb.com/company/frozen-yak-entertainment
the team icon is quite different to the one at
http://www.frozenyak.com/
so i guess, these are 2 game dev teams, but having the same studio name.

and i go to
https://code.google.com/p/evolutionrts/issues/list
submitted the issue, hope the game dev team found the stupid issue for linux now.
this issue makes me feeling noobish of the game dev team. really.

As posted in the forums, on the announcements and in a zillion other places, there is no build for steam yet. The reason is that I have to do it all via a VM and making sure it all works is extremely time consuming. As you can see we are having quite a lot of issues with windows. The irony is that linux will probably sail through just fine with 0 issues.

The game supports linux. You can grab the linux lobby from http://www.evolutionrts.info For whatever reason, steam associates a play button with linux users even when there is no depot associated with that OS yet.

Frozen Yak Entertainment was an april fools joke put on by Cavedog Entertainment (the company that made Total Annihilation) back in the late 90's (1998 iirc). There is no game development company named "Frozen Yak Entertainment". There is me, however, and any place that has asked me to list a game development company for Evo has gotten Frozen Yak. The website that you link to: http://www.frozenyak.com/ is the same website that Cavedog redirected their domain to.

Perhaps steam should not put play buttons on OS' that have no depot associated with that OS. Instead, at the moment, they rely on a checkbox for the store page asking what OS your game supports. The answer to that is Windows, Linux, and to some extent, OSX. That said there is no depot associated with that OS in steam's backend. I would think that their system would be able to check for that before placing a play button on that OS' version of steam.
