I am having a (minor) issue with Steam : whenever I restart Steam, the beta status of both Half-Life and Counter-Strike 1.6 are being reset to "NONE: Opt out[...]". (These two are my only games where I select to participate in the Beta).

I am running on Debian Wheezy x64 (uname -a output : Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.41-2 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

Just getting more information, are you using the regular or beta channel for the steam client? Haven’t seen this myself, though whenever I restart the client Steam downloads 0byte updates to half-life…

I'm not sure if I understood the question properly, but I assume you speak about the 'beta participation' in the steam Settings, right ? (in the 'Account' tab). My beta status is "Not participating" and I have one available (Steam client). Maybe I should try setting it ?

Update : I have just tried setting the beta participation to the Steam Client in the steam Settings, the problem still persists - my beta-opted games' beta status is being reset after each steam restart.
