System:
Linux Mint Nadia 14 64bit (Ubuntu based Distro), same with ubuntu 12.10 64bit

Bug overview:
If i'm starting Counter Strike:Source through steam it shows me a black gradient screen. It looks like the buttons "search server" etc. works, because i can hear the sound, but it still shows the black screen and i can't see anything.

If i'm connecting to a server through the steam server browser, i can connect to a server, but the graphic is very ugly and all walls are either red, blue, pink or have some other funny colors.

In the link below you'll see my detailed information about my machine.

http://www.schlachthaus.eu/hardinfo_report.html

Counter Strike 1.6 and Counter Strike Condition Zero works without any problems.

Workflow 1:

  • Install CS:S through Steam Browser
  • Start CS:S

Result:

  • Black gradient screen

Workflow 2:

  • Install CS:S through Steam Browser
  • Start CS:S through server steam browser

Result:

  • connected to server, but ugly and not acceptable graphic.

Hi, was this issue closed because you installed newer drivers?

I closed it because linux mint is not officialy supported yet. However, tried ubuntu 12.10 on my machine with the latest available intel driver through ubuntu..... Same story. Therefore reopening it as a bug.

Ah, ok. This looks to be this issue with Intel’s drivers - ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games#19 its a tracking bug for other users with the same issue, but not much can be done by Valve here, its down to mesa & intel to improve. That issue suggests mesa 9.1 improves it though…
