Certain parts of Unicord's UI have become somewhat dated over time, this is a list (subject to change) detailing visual changes I plan to make currently. Feedback is welcome of course :p

  • Replace in-app acrylic transient backgrounds with gradients (e.g. MediaTransportControls and FileUploadPicker)
  • TBD

I think there should be some kind of goofy message or something when there's nothing to show here

Maybe some divider of messages that you've already "read" so you know where you've left off, kinda like how the OG client has it

I'm not sure if this is more of a feature or a minor visual thing but a toggle to show the user list by default would be nice

I think the unread indicator should be white/black (depending on dark/light mode) rather than the accent color because it's harder to notice the indicator when you have a server selected
mentions should keep the accent color though, they have numbers attached to them so they're much easier to see

So I'm somewhat of two minds on this, you're absolutely right that the contrast of selected servers messes with the unread indicator, I'm not sure about pure white/black being the solution though, so there'd have to be some thinking through here. It'd also become inconsistent with the indicators for channels (both server and DMs), and I'm not sure on changing them there too

All this said, I wonder if it's even worthwhile considering the future of WInUI's selected ListViewItems seems to be more like the pills on NavigationView...
