Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
When blogs in the queue sit on "Calculating unique downloads, removing duplicates" it can make you think that its just sitting there not doing anything, which has caused me to just end task the application after a while when i need to close it, since closing it normally results in it permanently(?) freezing and becoming unresponsive and non intractable in any way (not resizable, movable, minimizable, etc)

Describe the solution you'd like

  • add extra information to the end of "Calculating Unique Downloads, removing duplicates ..." to tell the user what it is actively doing
  • possibly change the colour of the highlight indicating a queue item is in focus to a different colour when this is happening (purple?)
  • add a button to cancel / force stop all operations (or just the duplicate check(s))
  • add a config option to disable duplicate checks

i think there may be a bug where the duplicate removal process may get stuck if something is using one of the files its trying to access.

2 things could be causing this on my computer: File History & SyncThing
(both of which i would like to keep running)

related #596

Can you interrupt or close other apps at any step? Why is it impossible to wait until it finishes the step? Please be a little more patient.

Is it the runner's fault that he trips when you throw sticks between his legs?
Please check if it really won't be finished, even if you wait a very long time.

i have stopped them, didnt seem to help always, sometimes it finishes processing, sometimes it gets stuck, even if i leave my computer and tumblthree open overnight, and most of the day. tumblthree also during this doesnt seem to use much (if any) cpu usage or disk during this time.

When it gets stuck do you see any error message at the end of the log file?

i do not see any errors, no :(

i tried everything again, and noticed that its not just the duplicate check that freezes, its also everything else in the queue.

i had noticed that it was stuck on "(image) already downloaded, skipping..." for over 24 hours on the same image(s) for 2 blogs

as well as every other blog being stuck on the duplicate check.

it doesn't seem to matter how little or how many blogs i set to process at once

i may try the default config and see if this fixes anything..

i dont have much of an idea of why this is happening? other than over time it seems to get stuck

some blogs finish duplicate check at first, when first queuing blogs, but over time, more and more get stuck until everything comes to a halt.
