If I select an edge, grow it a few times and afterwards shrink it again, the shrinking causes several edges to be dropped from the selection that should remain selected. I might end up with a selected edge that is not the original edge, despite their being a symmetrical selection prior to shrinking.

It is especially apparent in larger selections where edgeloops are dropped in the middle of the area that is supposed to remain selected:

This issue, if I recall correctly, has been preset since Blender 2.83, the videos is from Blender 3.0 on Windows 10.
