Does each tree (i.e. estimator) run weighted_quantile_sketch? We think this might be the case since the prediction values per subsequent tree is different which would mean the hessian (which we think corresponds to the weight) is different as well.
Things to look into:

  1. the number of calls to MakeSummary doesn't directly correspond to the number of calls to weighted quantile sketch
  2. weights do not correspond to hessian
