Here's all the things I want to include in Alpha 8. If you want to work on something, convert the checkmark into an issue and assign yourself. Ask in comments or on Discord if you have any questions.

• Refactor the networking layer to use the new live query package. #439
• Fix the nebula background generator on the starmap editor and view screen. #447
• Fix the overly large planets on the starmap editor. #449
• Write a getting started how-to guide that explains how to start a flight and play the game. #469
• Fix the broken Flight Director controls. #453
• Remove the top menu bar when Thorium Nova kiosk is full-screen on Windows. #441
• Make it possible to specify the flight name when starting a flight. #451
• Improve the formatting and navigation for the release notes #443
• Make sure it is not possible to navigate within the kiosk app using any links, including those on the release notes page. They should instead open a third-party browser. #445
• Make it possible to reset the camera view on the navigation page by centering the camera directly above the map. #467
• Make the Table of Contents for the How To Guide actually scroll to that heading. #456
• Fix the search for the How-To guide #462
• When closing the issue tracker modal, the backdrop doesn't disappear, making the app unresponsive. #454
• Improve the deck navigation for the Cargo Control card. Show a deck list of some kind or have clear labels about which deck is which. Make it easy to go to a specific deck. #465
• Star Map Editor Palette Position #457
• Navigation Search leaves a dead space on the nav map #458
• Make images work in the How-to Guides again #484
• Add images to the Getting Started How-To Guide #486
• Assigning a client to another station doesn’t make that station update immediately. Probably a subscription issue. #488
• Autopilot rotation is really finicky #497
• Autopilot acceleration is really finicky #494
• Zooming in to an object above or below the y=0 plane doesn't work really well. #501
• The autopilot lines shouldn’t be drawn on the viewscreen #490
• Waypoints are placed too close to planets. They should be placed much more distant. #492
• Cargo rooms are being over-filled with cargo when the flight is started. #504
• Flight Director: Waypoints are appearing in the wrong system. #499

I don't know if this is how I want things to go, but it might be interesting to have an even/odd cadence of releases, where odd alphas include major features and even alphas are focused on UI/UX enhancements and bug fixes.

I love this, I have an inkling on how to get started on a couple of these things but I'm still a ways out from making big contributions to code.

Take your time, there will always be stuff to do ;) Whenever your ready, just make the issue and assign yourself.

And you might recognize many of these are things you ran into during your usability test - so you've already made a big contribution!

Yes, I did notice that. Usability tests help drive some focus which is nice.
