Mega Drive Mini w/RetroArch: does autosave/autoload work?

Hi! Yesterday I hacked mi mega drive mini with hackchi and installed RetroArch, and while I've been able to setup hotkeys and shaders for Genesis plus gx, the autosave/autoload feature doesn't seem to work, although having both options set to on. I wonder if this is a known issue, a bug, or if there's some other setting I'm not taking into account.

Any hint is greatly appreciated :)
