I want to add texture to my 3d prints without blender

I will say this did cross my mind awhile back. I know in the model creation process it can become very tedious to create a lot of patterns because the software will often slow to a crawl (glares at Fusion 360), rather just do it at slice time.

Looking at the linked PrusaSlicer thread, that dev did get a large portion of the way through it but may have been struggling with performance issues. Possibly a near-term is to implement what they did as an experimental (user enables) feature, with a notice that slices may take awhile and may appear to hang?
