Would you consider adding a sfinv tab with a formspec that allows players to manage what now is only available through the command line?

That's definitely an idea. Also support for unified_inventory would be nice - will look into the API.
To speed up the progress you could submit a PR ;)

Could you describe what elements would be interesting for this?
Add and remove players from your area? Only this?

• Additional settings after clicking one table entry (users with modify-permission)
• List of nicknames which have global access to your areas
