By default the extension expects .theme-check at root path, it could be useful a configuration editor variable for overriding the default path.

Can you clarify your use case a bit? Is this because you work in a repo with multiple .theme-check.yml? I believe the logic we have right now is to bubble up from the path of the first opened file (but may be wrong).

Yes, I use a custom project structure where those files are on ./.config/ directory instead on ./ for example ./.config/.theme-check It could be great to "manage" the theme check path as editor variable

Gotcha, so we're not talking about having N configs in a repo but more about having a config in a non-standard path. A bit like the --config flag for the command line, right?

The extension gets the config file: theme-check from root. I mean override the config file path in a variable like:

Maybe the --config flag could work but please let me know how to specify that :)
