I have done it many times - mostly when others remind me to. When I do it, it's very successful |

I've done it sometimes, being sometimes successful. I guess in several scenarios we have a good tone naturally... when we are enthusiastic about whatever subject. But we should watch and try to have a good tone even when we aren't so happy about it. I noticed that in the video examples one of the most important differences is Brady's facial expression. A smile π helps too. |

Yes, It can be quite difficult when your tone and your emotional state are far apart. π’ |

I feel that I'm typically aware of how I sound. There's times where I've tried to be more upbeat, and I can normally achieve that for a period of time. |

I actively control my tone all the time. Best advice I can give is to always keep group calls/conversations light and playful as the cost of a conversation failing is higher. |

Yes, if I was really angry then I would usually modify my tone as much as I could.
Mostly. Sometimes it isn't easy. |

I tried to say Chinese words with tones and I found it very difficult to speak and listen |

I'm sure we've all been on the receiving end of the phrase "It's not what you say, it's how you say it" as children. Doesn't hurt to get a reminder every now and then π |

I try to be quite conscious of how what I say comes across to others - this in mind I have definitely, upon reflection, realised my tone may have been misleading and have been more aware in future interactions |

I think it's important to consider tone of voice however I've always thought of it as having 2 tones, regular tone vs a customer service voice. |

There are plenty of occasions where I have tried to change my tone. Generally it starts off well then I gradually lose focus on how I am talking and focus more on what I am talking about. I think this is a valuable skill, but it is something that you have to gradually train yourself to do. |

Having a wife is a constant reminder that tone matters |

Changing tone is imperative when you want to be more convincing. It's very useful for me when mooting or debating. |

This is a good thing to practice. it may feel diingenuine to start with but you can fake it till you make it and it becomes your natural way of communicating. Also there's some evidence that physically smiling or having an open posture can cause you to feel a bit happier or more confident. so you can swap the usual cause and effect :) |

Tone matters that's why I listen to Tone Loc, who's old enough to know Tone Loc without googling it. But, back to the topic, I generally go with the flow. |

If i consciously think that I'll need to change my tone, then yes. And there are times when it triggers like a habit. |

Yes, when I'm meeting with clients or presenting, I always try to sound energetic and confident.
I think it's good. |

Yes - I found my tone sometimes aggressive and easily sounds like accusation rather than statement. Pretty sure I got this from my mom and it's easier to spot the issue watching her make the same mistake. When I'm consiously paying attension to this and I got a bit better. But the issue still comes up occasionally. |

I don't recall whether I have tried to change my tone in the past.
N/A - I will be working on it during Daily Scrum meetings and improve my tone |

Yes, in the past, I spoke fast with an urgent tone, it made others stressed. Now, I speak slower, and others feel better when they talk to me. But I still tend to speak fast with an urgent tone when I'm in a hurry. |

Yes, I tried that when I spoke to juniors, I would speak more formally. However, when comes to seniors, I would speak more uncertainly to let them offer their opinions.
I don't know, but I think I should give others confidence when I express myself by using less uncertain tones. |

Continually adapting your tone to the audience and circumstances is one of the most effective communication tools there is (probably second only to empathy). |
