A few patterns, like "Governance Backlog" uses the definition as the summary text, but if that definition contains explicit MarkDown markup for bolding some words that does not survive. Instead the markup is retained verbatim in the output, like here: https://patterns.sociocracy30.org/governance-backlog.html.
Probably some issue with Jekyll translation...
