Using official ark changes file mode of extracted files

I am not sure if this is a problem of ark, or of this cookbook.

When I am using the official ark resource https://github.com/opscode-cookbooks/ark the file mode of the extracted files changes to -rwxr--r--

When I use ark of https://github.com/bryanwb/chef-ark I'll get the correct results and the file modes in the bin dir are preserved: -rwxr-xr-x
That's what I would expect and is also the result when doing a manual extract of the archive on my local machine.

From which resource are you using ark?
