The search function being broken is an issue with [our use of?] the Google Maps API. I have asked the other two maintainers for this repo about it, who have access to the Google Maps dashboard account, but unfortunately their availability to jump on this problem is pretty low, it would seem.
IMO, yes, it would be good to bring on more people with more availability, and/or to open up access to those things to some more people. That way issues like these will have someone ready to respond to things that come up.
As it is, only they have access, and only they can fix it. Or they can bring more people into the loop.
I have raised the issue with those who have the access needed to resolve the issue. I can only assume other life things are getting in the way. But if they are reading this, it is indeed one more reason why we need more/new people with that level of access, IMO. I would agree on that front.
(To be clear: I do not personally have the means to open that up, since I have never had access to the server hosting account or to the Google API dashboard account. I just have access to the code repository here on GitHub.com.)
Does this project need a new contributor? It looks like there are 61, but the app no longer works and yet I feel this is still a needed app.
